Welcome to Museum of the Sea.

The Museum of the Sea brings you closer to the history of the seafaring town of Lloret. Following the development of this town, visitors become immersed in the seafaring stories, adventures and the ancestral art of boatbuilding and the bravery of all those who decided to make their living from the sea.

What's to see?

Permanent exhibition

Area 1. Children of the sea. A true journey through the history of Lloret de Mar and its ties with the sea and sailing. The town's close relationship with the sea becomes even more evident in the collection of model ships that can be seen; a love of maritime modelling that probably originated in the shipyards.

Area 2. Mare Nostrum. Here visitors can get to know the ancient art of shipbuilding, as well as the materials and tools used. They can also see the type of vessels that were typical of the time, their functions and how they used to be sailed, according to the seafaring knowledge of the time.

Area 3. Sailing the world. In this section visitors visit the era when the sea was the gateway to the whole world. The shipyards at Lloret worked harder than ever and sailing started to become a real career, as well as that of master shipbuilder. Visitors will also get to know how the ships of the time were funded, the hierarchy on board and, of course, the famous journeys to the Americas and the return of these explorers from Lloret who had made their fortune overseas and played a decisive role in the town's transformation.

Area 4. Lloret after the tall ships
As from 1869, sailing entered a crisis and Lloret turned back to its traditional economic resources. This section shows the activities of fishing, forestry and agriculture, as well as the traditions of Lloret.

Area 5. Beyond the beach
The Open Museum of Lloret (MOLL) is an imaginary network of places of interest in heritage terms that go to make up an open air museum, consisting of the gardens of Santa Clotilde, the castle of Sant Joan, the modernist cemetery, the country house of Can Saragossa and the Iberian village of Puig de Castellet.
